Bring On the Meat!!! An experience at Hurrican, Bondi~!

My high school friends and I have actually been talking about going to this place for ages, but for some reason, every break we had, we never seemed to be able to find the time to go here. When finally one holiday, we decided to go, but found out that it needed booking beforehand -_-"
When we got there, I could see exactly why we needed a booking on a Saturday night...because the night we went was a Tuesday night and it was completely packed!!!! Luckily we made a booking, because there was a line waiting outside and it didn't look like anyone was going to leave soon >.< The ambience was quite nice, the setting was somewhat stylish and modern, yet it didn't make you feel like you're in a high class restaurant and everyone seemed to feel extremely comfortable. The waiters and waitresses were very helpful and very positive in their attitude, most of them had a foreign accent (we suspected alot of them might be backpackers working part-time whilst their stay in Sydney), which I must say added to the experience. Where we sat we could see the chefs working hard in the kitchen, most of them looked African and that was a plus to the food, because there was definitely some African-like flavour in the ribs!

Now, onto the food! Most of us ordered different things and shared between two or three people:

The Caesar Salad was nice, but I'm going to be tough on it and say it wasn't anything extraordinary. I did find that it actually might have had too much mayonnaise on it for my personal liking, but I didn't mind the mayo too much. We shared this salad between four people, which I thought the portion per person was enough to be enjoyed as an entree.

There were 6 garlic prawns in this little hot pot, which were shared perfectly equally amongst three of us! As you bite into the prawn, you feel the "juice" being squeezed into your mouth and leaves a sensational taste on your tongue. The trick is to not put the whole thing into your mouth all at once, but to savour each and every big slowly. Well, that was how I liked to eat it anyway hehehe

And here is the main character for the night *drum roll*

PORK RIBS!!!

This was truly a shocking dish.... shocking firstly because of its size. When the waitress first brought it out, I nearly had my jaw dropped open! It was seriously massive!!! (As you can tell, even now I haven't gotten over it completely!) The fun really involved marvelling at it... then ripping each rib apart one by one. The first bite into the meat was absolutely sensational, the juiciness of the meat plus the unique taste of the sauce on top together on your tongue was a taste indescribable! After the first bite, you really cannot help but to keep going! Though I must say that I'm very glad that I shared the plate with two other friends, because after a while, it did get very very very filling!

We also tried the lamb, the lamb was quite nice too! Though I myself preferred the pork because the lamb was quite fatty and I felt quite guilty after eating it hahahahaa

It was a good night out! Though for uni students who don't have much money, I will just warn you in advance that the meal did cost around $30 per person, so save up and spend wisely ;)

Saak Thai

This, I think, is a nice little thai restaurant, which offers good value for good food hehehe I can't quite remember what my friends had and although I am one to try out new things usually at a restaurant I've never been to, I really wanted Pad Thai that day, so I just went with the safer option hahaha

This might look like a small portion...but it was really filling! Although I wiped my plate clean... others couldn't really finish the portion that they had! And (from memory) most things were under 10 bucks!
The pad thai was really nice! It wasn't TOO spicy and wasn't TOO sweet, because in my experience, some pad thais tend to swing one way or the other and you really get sick of it after a while. Also, some can be very oily. But this one didn't have that effect, rather I was able to finish such a big plate as well without having felt like that was too much to handle or sick of it, which makes it a good pad thai.

I also had a coconut drink, which was probably the most overvalued item on the menu... XD It wasn't anything special, yet it was more than $3... maybe I'm just a cheap asian hahaha Though on that day, I didn't really quite mind, because I really wanted a cold drink and I haven't had a coconut drink in a long time, so it was quite refreshing! Having said that it was the most overvalued thing on the menu though, because this place was pretty good value, the coconut drink really has a high expectation to live up to hahahaha
Overall, Saak Thai is definitely one thai restaurant people should try. The setting is very casual and the staff are helpful enough, so you feel at ease while you're eating. I'm glad the tourists who were peeping outside decided to go in eventually after seeing the leftovers on our plates, because they were definitely not left over because the food was bad, but rather it was too much and being a group of girls, there was no helping it XD

Iced Green Tea Frappicino

I must start off this blog by posting about my favourite drink from Star Bucks! This was introduced to me by Jessjess one afternoon while sitting at Darling Harbour.

This is possibly one of the best green tea flavoured drinks I've ever tasted! Funny that since green tea is such an asian thing and Star Bucks isn't very asian hehehe
Just imagine quality green tea ice-cream being turned into a drink! The creaminess is not lost while being mixed with crushed ice, one sip will leave you with a tingling sensation through the body and your heart could do nothing but scream out YUM!
If you haven't tried one, definitely go try one! Though I must say, because I've drank quite a few of these from different franchises, the Darling Harbour one is still the most quality!

Welcome~!

I've finally started a new blog, this entry is just for testing really... but yes, I will be bloggin about restaurants, about dramas/animes, about anything I make... a whole bunch of stuff! Hopefully it will be somewhat interesting and will bring a smile to you when you read it too ^___^
